Design Technology
The Technology department consists of four full teachers and two full time technicians, one supporting the 'hard' material areas and one supporting the compliant materials areas. Students study each area of technology throughout Years 7, 8 and 9 (Key Stage 3) on a rolling programme. They can then opt for the area of technology in which they wish to specialise during Years 10 and 11 (Key Stage 4).
Presently students can choose from Graphic Products, Food Technology, Resistant Materials, Product Design and at Key Stage 4 Hospitality and Catering.
The Technology suite of rooms includes two 'hard' material workshops, a food preparation room, a Graphic Products Studio and a fully equipped computer suite. The computer suite includes facilities to produce Computer Aided Designs (CAD) and an increasing range of 'state of the art' educational Computer Aided Manufacture (CAM) machinery to better demonstrate how products are produced in an increasing technologically advanced society.
The curriculum includes Resistant Materials, Systems of Control and at least one of the Food or Textiles product areas.
